Mark T. Bixler, PGA
Head Golf Professional
Mark Bixler is currently in his fifth season as the Head Golf Professional at Kirtland Country Club. Mark was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, where he got his first job in the golf business as a caddie at the Inverness Club. He graduated from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. After graduating, Mark worked as an Assistant Golf Pro at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio, home of the LPGA Jamie Farr Classic. Mark then worked at Chagrin Valley Country Club for one season before moving to the East Coast. From 2010 until 2013, Mark split his time as the Senior Assistant at Pine Valley Golf Club in the summer and The John's Island Club in the winter. Pine Valley is widely regarded as one of the top golf clubs in the world while John's Island has been recognized as a Top 15 Residental Community in America. Mark and his wife Rachel welcomed their first child, William in the fall of 2015.
Steve Niland
Assistant Golf Professional
Steve will be returning for his third season at KCC after spending the winter at Tara Iti Golf Club on the northern coast of New Zealand. Since opening in 2015, Tara Iti has received numerous accolades from golf publications. It was recently ranked ans the #11 golf course in the world by Golf Digest. To put that in context, Oakmont was ranked #10 and Merion was ranked #13. Pretty good company! Steve will be our main tournament coordinator, running our major events in addition to running our Ladies' and Junior programs.
Andy Deehr
Assistant Golf Professional
Andy joins us after spending the last two seasons in Cincinnati at Wetherington Golf & Country Club. Andy is also the Head Coach at his alma mater Hiram College where he was a three-year captain and graduated in 2011.
Robbie Gilmore, Jr.
Assistant Golf Professional
Robbie most recently served as the Membership Golf Professional at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. Prior to that, he was the Golf Professional at The Greenbrier Sporting Club and also the Director of Instruction of The Greenbrier's Sam Snead Golf Academy. Robbie was recognized by Golf Digest as the #1 Instructor in the state of West Virginia in 2015 and 2016. On occasion, he had a little time to pick the Slammer's brain on teaching philosophy and hear his countless stories. Since then he has added to his teaching resume by working with such renowned teachers as Jim Hardy, Laird Small, Annika Sorenstam, and Jim McLean. Robbie attended Jacksonville University on a full golf scholarship and graduated in 1976. He was a two-year Captain of the team and won several collegiate events. He was twice named Play of the Year in the North Florida PGA, won numerous Chapter and Sectional level events and competed in many PGA Tour events and a few major championships. He has worked at private golf clubs the majority of his career. In addition, he has orchestrated several golf course openings. Robbie and his wife reside in Willoughby.
